Day 4: Pokhara to Jomsom and trek to muktinath and Back to Kagbani.
After early morning breakfast we fly from Pokhara. It’s a spectacular 30-minute flight. As you go up, the landscape changes from the luxurious greenery of the Pokhara area to the barren, rocky piece of land of the Mustang before arriving at Jomsom.
Taking a jeep to Kagbeni, this bustling medieval town could be a great base for exploring the Lower Mustang. Once again, our journey starts climbing up to the village of Jharkot. Throughout the trek, we will have picturesque places to admire. From Kagbeni, the road climbs quickly to join the direct path that leads to Khingar at 3200 meters above sea level. The path climbs through a desert landscape to the village of Jarkot. An extra climb comes to Muktinath.
Muktinath is an important place of pilgrimage for Nepalese of both Buddhist and Hindu faiths as these two religions are intricately woven together in Nepal. We visit the main temple and tour its surrounding. We can admire the water spouts before paying a visit to a Buddhist monastery nearby. From Muktinath, we retrace our steps back to Kagbeni. Overnight in Kagbeni.
