Kanchenjunga South Trek is a chance to reach the base camp of the world’s third tallest mountain on a remote mountain trail. Mt. Kanchenjunga is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountain massifs in the world. The name Kanchenjunga means ‘Five Treasures of the Great Snow’ which is in reference to the five summits that make up Kanchenjunga. Located in the remote north-eastern region of Nepal, bordering to Tibet and Sikkim, Kanchenjunga is greatly admired as one of the exquisite mountain ranges of the planet Earth. This alternative route is for someone seeking peace in nature. This route encompasses Himalayan coniferous forest, alpine shrubs, meadows, and grassland.
Kanchenjunga is a less popular hiking trail in Nepal. Beautiful land escape, amazing mountains view, Glacier, thundering rivers, people unique culture and tradition are main attraction of this trip. Rarely flora and fauna, including endangered Red Panda has been conserved by Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Project (KCAP). Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu.

Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our airport representative then who will drive you to the hotel. After check-in, you can rest and refresh yourself for the time being. In the evening, there will be welcome dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant, where you can enjoy authentic Nepalese cuisine. Overnight in Kathmandu.


Day 2: Fly from Kathmandu to Suketar and trek to Tembewa(1840m)

From Kathmandu, we get an early morning flight to Suketar also known as Taplejung Airport. Suketar is an airport serving Taplejung, in the Taplejung district of the Mechi zone in Eastern Nepal. It is the gateway for tourists heading to the Kangchenjunga mountainous. Now your epic journey to Kanchanjunga South begins. We trek east up the airstrip onto a tractor road to the right and continue up to Deurali (2600m). Then the trail goes through the rhododendron forest, covered with a ridge to Lali Kharka (2,266m) where we will have lunch. After lunch we continue our journey, the trail descends for about an hour circle through the scrubby forest to the picturesque Limbu village Tembewa (1835m). Overnight in Tembewa.


Day 3: Tembewa to Khesewa(1960m) – 5 hours.

We begin our trek to Khesewa after breakfast. It is especially an easy descent to Phundrawa. From here we begin our ascent. It is a steep climb to Yangpang from where we regularly climb to Phumphe Danda followed by a new climb to Khesewa. Our walk will be through forests and small towns. Overnight in Khesewa


Day 4: Khesewa to Mamanke(1780m) – 6 hours.

After breakfast, we begin our trek to Kabeli Khola. Then we take a path that crosses the forests before crossing a small stream. Along the way, we enjoy a breath-taking view of the Himalayan peaks as we cross several beautiful villages. Night in Mamankhe.


Day 5: Mamanke to Yamphudin(1690m) – 4 hours.

Today's hike will be mainly uphill on an easy road, along which we will walk mainly along Kabeli Khola. During the walk, we also admire the beautiful crest behind the stream. We continue our walk and admire a beautiful waterfall nearby. After walking for a while, we cross a small suspension bridge. We cross small settlements before arriving at Yamphudin for the night.


Day 6: Yamphudin to Amjikhola(2340m) – 5 hours.

We begin our day after a nice breakfast. We pack up and head to the trail, hiking through mixed forests on a relatively flat path, towards the Kabeli Khola. A series of small waterfalls puts a smile on our faces. We head north, stopping for lunch at Yangpang with awesome views of Mt. Jannu. We end the day with a steep uphill climb for about 20 minutes up to bank of Amjikhola. Overnight in camp at Amjikhola.


Day 7: Amjikhola to Torontan(2990m) – 7 hours.

We begin our walk on a path commonly used by the villagers and pass through terraced farms and green meadows. Along the way, we have the constant company of the Himalayas to enjoy. Our walk will be on a trail along the Amji Khola. We also cross a pass at Lassiya Bhanjyang before reaching Tortong. Overnight in Tortong.


Day 8: Torontan to Theran(3870m) – 5 hours.

We begin our constant climb to Theran after breakfast. Our path is right next to Simbuwa Khola. We enjoy walking in the beautiful Lalung Valley and have the Tuplung summit for the company to the fullest of our current trip. We cross a thick rhododendron forest and enjoy the magnificence of the Yalung glacier. Overnight in Theran.


Day 9: Theran to Ramche(4620m) – 5 hours.

We begin our short trek after breakfast. From Theran, we climb a while before reaching the snout of the Yalung glacier. It is a beautiful walk along a valley road. We also appreciate the views of several Himalayan peaks. We cross a small settlement of Lapsang before reaching Ramche. Night in Ramche.


Day 10: Rest day.

We spend a day in Ramche which will help us acclimatize to the high altitude. We can spend the rest of the day resting and taking part in small hikes. We can explore the areas around the Yalung Glacier. We follow the valley around its sweeping curve, to the vast southern wall of the mountain. Along this ridge exist the three main summits of Kanchenjunga at 8420 meters, 8586 meters, and 8474 meters. These three summits jut out into the clouds, providing an amazing scene. There is also a viewpoint for Kabaru and Rathong peaks. Overnight in Ramche.


Day 11: Ramche to Lamite Bhyanjayang( ) – 6 hours.

oday, we follow our way back along the Simbua Khola to Lamite Bhanjyang. After another descend of an hour or 2 we will arrive at Anda Phedi, it will remain open during the trekking season. From Anda Phedi, the trail descends gently to the Tortong. This is one of the most beautiful treks, often you heard the changing sounds of the river, and a huge range of rhododendrons giving way to moss-hung forests with huge pines and larches, all mixed with various broadleaf turning with autumn is all very soulful. Overnight in Lamite Bhyanjayang.


Day 12: Lamite Bhyanjayang to Yamphudin( 1690m) – 5 hours.

The trek today is challenging because we will pass through many landslides zone. There is a steep 600m climb to laminate pass (3500m) that will test you to the core. We will then cross a wooden bridge to reach Simbua Khola. We continue walking through slopes until we enter pines and rhododendron forests. We then walk across Maji Khola to climb at the Dhupia Bhanjyang (2540m). Finally, the trail becomes smooth as we pass through the cultivable fields where local grow corn and barley. We cross a ridge and reach Yamphudin. Overnight in Yamphudin.


Day 13: Yamphudin to Phumphe – 6 hours.

After having breakfast we follow the Kabeli Khola River back to Phumphe village, retracing our step back. The trail for today is much more adventures which crosses green meadows and alpine forest. Mostly we walk through the deep forest and houses can be seen only occasionally. We trek by pretty and magnificent Limbu village of Mamanke (1780m) which we reach after one and half hour. Now the trail descends to a long suspension bridge over the Takshewa Khola and climbs 300 meters to Phungphung/Phumphe Danda (1860m) in about another hour and a half. Overnight in Phumphe.


Day 14: Phumphe to Kunjari – 7 hours.

the Limbu village of Simbu, following the route we passed by. This is a pleasant journey as we walk through the cool shade with deep forests and lots of waterfalls. We climb on the stairs with an excellent view of Jannu/ Kumbhakarna and Kanchanjunga and we descend down to a shady waterfall after about 3 hours of walk. We will stop for lunch at Khesewa (2125m). After lunch, we climb onwards over saddles through hot and steamy trail traverse to Kande Bhanjyang (2130m) and descend down to steep path for about an hour which will get us to Kunjari (1800m) village. Overnight in Kunjari.


Day 15: Kunjari to Suketar.

Today we make the long return to Suketar. As the flights leaving from here operate normally early in the morning. The hiking trails along the road to Lali Kharka and Deurali which offers optimal vegetation, flora and fauna and picturesque villages. Furthermore, trek will lead us to the Suketar where we will spend the night.


Day 16: Fly from Suketar to Kathmandu.

Our amazing journey to the Kanchenjunga South comes to an end today. We fly back to Kathmandu from Suketar leaving behind one of the most beautiful areas in the country in far-eastern Nepal bordering India in the east and the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China in the north. Alpine grasslands, rocky outcrops, dense temperate, sub-tropical forests, and low river valleys make up the area so popular for trekking. Overnight in Kathmandu.


Day 17: Rest day at Kathmandu.

Today is basically a rest day. If you are interested you can stroll around Kathmandu Valley. The Kathmandu Valley is so full of historical, architectural, and religious treasures that you don't need to leave (or go very far) to have rich experience in Kathmandu. Later in the evening you can stroll down the Thamel city. Thamel is the city's main nightlife zone. Thamel has been the centre of the tourist industry in Kathmandu for over four decades. To celebrate the success of our trip, we will have a farewell dinner at night. Overnight in Kathmandu.


Day 18: Departure to home.

Our adventure in Nepal ends today. Our airport representative will drop you off at the Tribhuwan International Airport a few hours before the scheduled flight. We wish you a safe Journey.
